Fashion Week Asia Day 2: Rosanna Ocampo Gives Raffia A New Look

By

On the second day of Fashion Week Asia, Rosanna Ocampo sent pieces sporting the brand’s newest textile treatment, “Molten Raffia,” down the runway.

After five seasons of working with raffia, Rosanna Ocampo is finding new ways to use the material. At Asia 2026, the Filipino designer introduced “Molten Raffia,” a textile treatment showcasing traditional craftsmanship and a fresh approach to a material closely tied to her heritage. Stemming from her Filipino identity, her latest work celebrates the creativity of women in the country, and the stories our craftsmanship can contribute to the world stage.

“Obviously, this is something that reminds me very much of my heritage, but molded literally into the places and the people that I meet around the world,” she explains in an exclusive interview with Lifestyle Asia.

Rosanna Ocampo Traverses Beyond Asia’s Borders

For a designer whose work has reached an international audience, this collection also offers an opportunity to put Filipino craftsmanship in front of a wider crowd. Ocampo sees plenty of talent emerging from the Philippines, though she believes the country’s fashion industry still deserves greater recognition. “The fashion in the Philippines is, for me, very, very underrated,” she said. “And I’m so happy that we have this platform to showcase, obviously, all the talent that’s exploding in our country.”

Her experience abroad has given her another way to represent that talent. Now in its fifth season in Milan, her brand is stocked in 15 stores across Italy, marking a significant step in bringing her work to an international market. Fashion Week Asia 2026 adds another platform for Ocampo to share the craftsmanship and cultural identity behind her collections.

And while the techniques and materials may continue to evolve, the message she hopes audiences take away remains clear. Asked what she wanted people to understand after seeing her collection, Ocampo offered a simple but meaningful answer: “Not necessarily from my collection, but I hope they see that Filipino women are women of the world.” Rosanna translates that sentiment for the runway, showing how a material of Filipino heritage can travel, transform, and tell new stories along the way.
