Tubbataha Reef Inspires Philip Stein’s First Professional Divers Watch

By

The luxury watchmaker and wellness brand Philip Stein partners with local conservation efforts to create a timepiece that honors one of the Philippines’ greatest natural treasures.

Deep beneath the crystal-clear waters of the Sulu Sea lies one of the Philippines’s most extraordinary wonders. The Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site spanning over 97,000 hectares off Palawan, features unparalleled marine biodiversity. Now, this underwater paradise has found worthy expression in Philip Stein’s first-ever professional diver’s watch collection.

The luxury watchmaker and wellness brand recently introduced the Tubbataha Collection alongside a special book documenting the reef’s beauty in partnership with the Lucerne Group of Companies. This collaboration reflects a shared philosophy where precision meets purpose.

Wellness Meets Professional Performance

Philip Stein has built its reputation on the philosophy that luxury timepieces can enhance well-being through a blend of functional and elegant design.

For Philip Stein co-founder Will Stein, this collection represents both personal passion and brand philosophy: “At age 18, I experienced for the first time the beauty and vastness of the world underwater. The Philip Stein Tubbataha is our way of honoring the ocean, protecting a reef that reminds us of the beauty worth preserving.”

The collection features two distinct expressions, each engineered for the demanding environment that inspired them while incorporating the brand’s wellness-focused approach. The Tubbataha Titanium Professional 200M Limited Edition, with ocean-inspired blue mother-of-pearl dials, comes in three variations, each limited to 200 pieces: a Grade 5 titanium case with a titanium bracelet, or with a coral orange or ocean blue rubber strap. Meanwhile, the Tubbataha Professional 200M in stainless steel, with a black mother-of-pearl dial, comes with a steel bracelet or black rubber strap.

Beyond the Surface

“The Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is a Philippine treasure and a global heritage site,” says Emerson Yao, Managing Director of the Lucerne Group. “With the Philip Stein Tubbataha watch, we proudly support conservation efforts to protect the beauty beneath our seas.”

The collection introduces Watch Tubbataha, a joint conservation effort between the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park and Philip Stein. The initiative supported a seven-day liveaboard experience that brought together divers, conservationists, photographers, and videographers to document this underwater paradise and share its story with a global audience. This collaborative effort resulted in WatchTubbataha: Time in the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, a limited-edition book capturing the reef’s stunning beauty, with only 500 copies available.
