According to IMDb, the film follows the story of Maria Antonia. She is a fourteen-year-old Archduchess of Austria and the youngest daughter of Empress Maria-Theresa. 

Maria Antonia marries the Dauphin of France, the future Louis XVI, to strengthen the alliance between the two countries.

The movie depicts Marie Antoinette’s luxurious lifestyle and her struggles in marriage, showing how she navigates various challenges after becoming the Queen of France. It highlights her personality and her commitment to her way of life. 

The film beautifully portrays the Queen of France, whose extravagant lifestyle symbolized the opulence of the 18th century. 

It also portrays her downfall, as she was stripped of her wealth and luxury, imprisoned, and ultimately executed by her own people during the French Revolution in 1789.

High Society (1956)

Starring Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra, High Society is hailed by The Times as one of the most glamorous films of all time. 

A reimagining of the 1940s film The Philadelphia Story, it follows the story of socialite Tracy Samantha Lord (Kelly) as she navigates a love triangle. 

Just as Tracy, a young and glamorous divorcee, is about to marry the respectable but dull George Kittredge, her ex-husband and jazz musician CK Dexter-Haven (Bing Crosby) returns to town. He returns to organize a music festival.

Adding to the complexity, journalist Macaulay “Mike” Connor (Frank Sinatra) is invited to cover the wedding, which seems destined for chaos. 

This Oscar-winning romantic comedy showcases the golden-era Hollywood actors in all their fabulous glory. It delivers memorable lines such as “I’m sensational, everybody says so.”

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)

In the 1999 film adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s novel, Matt Damon portrays the titular character, Tom Ripley. He is sent to Italy to retrieve a wayward heir, Dickie Greenleaf (played by Jude Law), as reported by The Times.

However, Ripley becomes so captivated by Greenleaf’s luxurious and carefree lifestyle on the 1950s Italian Riviera that he decides to assume his identity.

The wealthy young Americans sunbathe, ride speedboats, and listen to jazz on the Italian Riviera in the 1950s – who wouldn’t want to join them?

Netflix recently released a series titled Ripley, which also explores this intriguing story. Tudum by Netflix reports that the series’ filming locations, including Venice, Rome, Naples, and Palermo, offer a picturesque backdrop reminiscent of a dream vacation. 

Creator Steven Zaillian and production designer Andrew Gropman searched extensively along the Amalfi Coast for the perfect setting. 

They eventually found the ideal village of Atrani, with its population of about 800 people, to represent the town where Dickie Greenleaf settles.

Filming the series in 2021 presented unique challenges due to the height of the Covid pandemic, resulting in deserted locations devoid of tourists. 

This absence of modern distractions lent an even greater sense of authenticity to the production. It transported viewers back in time to the glamorous yet tumultuous world of The Talented Mr. Ripley.

The Great Gatsby (2012)

Directed by Baz Luhrmann, “The Great Gatsby” is a romantic drama starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, alongside Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, and Isla Fisher, according to IMDb.

The story follows Nick Carraway (Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest. He ventures to New York City in the spring of 1922. It was a time marked by loose morals, vibrant jazz, bustling markets, and soaring stocks.

In pursuit of his own American Dream, Carraway becomes neighbors with the enigmatic and extravagant millionaire, Jay Gatsby. 

Drawn into Gatsby’s world of lavish parties and hidden desires, Carraway discovers the complexities of the super-rich. He encounters their illusions, love affairs, and deceptions.

As Carraway gains insight into this world, he becomes entangled in an impossible love story. This led to a series of tragedies.

Ford VS Ferrari (2019)

Ford v Ferrari, also known as Le Mans ’66 in European territories, is an American sports drama film. 

Screenrant reports that James Mangold directs the movie, with Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and Jason Keller writing the screenplay.

The film stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale, along with Jon Bernthal, Caitriona Balfe, and Tracy Letts.

As per IMDb, the plot revolves around American automobile designer Carroll Shelby and fearless racer Ken Miles. 

They navigate company interference, legal constraints, and the laws of physics. As well as their personal challenges to create an innovative car for Ford Motor Co.

Their goal is to compete against Ferrari’s race cars at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.
