The Tony Awards will take place live from New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 12, through the CBS Television Network. It will also stream online and on-demand on Paramount+.

An independent committee of 29 theatre professionals, appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee, selected the nominees.

A Strange Loop received the most nominations at 11. These include Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Musical, among others.

Its creator, Michael R. Jackson has already received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the same work. This made him the first black musical theatre writer to win the award.

MJ and Paradise Square follow behind with 10 nods each.

Meanwhile, British actors, playwrights, directors, designers, and other talents stand out among this year’s list of nominees.

The three British lead actors of The Lehman Trilogy, for instance, will all go head-to-head in the same category. Competing together are Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Adrian Lester.

Other highlighted British talents are Sharon D. Clarke (Best Lead Actress in a Musical), Alfie Allen (Best Actor in a Featured Role of a Play), Neil Austin (Best Lighting Design of a Musical), and Bunny Christie (Best Scenic Design of a Musical).
