Already listed underneath Estée Lauder’s brands is Tom Ford Beauty.
Estée Lauder Cos. is in talks to buy luxury brand Tom Ford, according to an exclusive Wall Street Journal report. This cited “people familiar with the matter.”
The report said there could be a deal worth $3 billion or more. It would represent the cosmetics group’s largest-ever acquisition.
“New York-based Estée Lauder primarily sells skin-care products, cosmetics and perfume… With a market value of nearly $100 billion, it has the wherewithal to do such a deal,” the report read.
Bloomberg similarly reported in July that Tom Ford hired Goldman Sachs to explore a potential sale. Furthermore, Estée Lauder has a market cap of an estimated $97 billion as of August 2022.
Brands under Estée Lauder include Aerin Beauty, Aramis, Aveda, Bobbi Brown, Bumble and Bumble, Clinique, Darphin Paris, Dr. Jart+, Editions De Parfums Frederic Malle, GlamGlow, Jo Malone London, Kilian Paris, La Mer, Lab Series, Le Labo, MAC, Origins, Smashbox, Tom Ford Beauty, and Too Faced.
Particularly of note, Tom Ford Beauty is a collection of cosmetics and fragrances “shaped with [its founder’s] singular vision of modern glamour and crafted with the quality and luxury.”
“Our portfolio strategy includes growing existing brands. And discovering new high-potential acquisitions that align with our values and offer a long-term outlook for success,” president and chief executive officer Fabrizio Freda previously said.
