All-Black Lace Ensemble
Her attire, a vintage Dior gown, boasted a strapless, fitted bodice and a layered black lace floral skirt, delivering a dramatic touch.
The long sleeves and tall neckline, crafted from a black mesh fabric adorned with scattered lace flowers, added an extra layer of elegance.
What caught everyone’s attention, besides the captivating gown, was the headpiece created by the renowned Irish haute couture milliner, Philip Treacy.
Vogue labeled him as one of fashion’s favorite milliners, and his creation for Pike was nothing short of extraordinary.
A sheer, heart-shaped net covered in black flowers and crowned with a dainty bow, the headpiece completed the gothic ensemble.
Unveiling the Unexpected
Pike, letting her outfit speak for itself, kept the rest of her look simple with silky black platform sandals.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Pike accessorized herself with two large white gold and diamond Plume de Paon rings from Boucheron.
As she graced the red carpet, Variety caught up with her, and Pike unveiled the intriguing reason behind her choice of headwear.
In a casual and light tone, she explained, “It’s a protective veil. Well, I had an accident over Christmas, actually. I had a skiing accident, and I had to think. Not what you want knowing you’re coming to the Golden Globes on the 7th of January.”
Opening up about her December 26 skiing mishap, Pike revealed that her face was “entirely smashed up.”
Fortunately, it had since healed. Yet, she felt the need to do something, and that something turned out to be the striking headpiece.
In Character
In an interview with Marc Malkin of Variety, Pike confessed that despite the accidental origins, she fell in love with the look and decided to keep the hats.
Drawing a connection to her character in Saltburn, Lady Elspeth Catton, Pike acknowledged that the outfit paid homage to the upper crust character.
According to ET, Pike was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. The actress lost out to Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
However, as stated by ET, she expressed her love for working with Saltburn director Emerald Fennell. She describes it as a journey inside Fennell’s amazing imagination.
Reflecting on the experience, she said, “And, you know, she sort of took us and chewed us up and spat us up. And we loved every minute of it.”
In essence, Rosamund Pike’s Golden Globes appearance showcased her fashion flair. She also revealed the story behind the protective veil that added a touch of mystery to her gothic-inspired ensemble.
