Halloween is traditionally not celebrated in the Philippines. It is not part of our culture to dress up as ghouls and decorate our houses with scary decorations. Once September hits, we Filipinos are all about the Christmas season. However, Tim wants to bring the enjoyment of Halloween to the Philippines.
“I’ve been throwing Halloween parties for quite some time now and felt a need to brand it Filipino since the concept of Halloween is so Western. I always like to inject a sense of Filipino-ness in everything I do, so Shake Rattle and Ball was born,” he said.
Though this is just the second year of Shake, Rattle, and Ball, he has thrown yearly parties for his friends. And every year, Tim comes up with a theme that reflects the current zeitgeist. “We always come up with themes that mirror what’s happening or somehow, what’s to come,” he explains.

Tim also gives credit to those who helped him accomplish and mount a party as big as Shake, Rattle, and Ball. “ Luckily I have a great team in Yaparazzi Events, amazing partners and sponsors, and lifelong friends who are truly there to help and be present through and through,” he adds.

When asked what the future of Shake, Rattle, and Ball looks like, he shares, “I see it getting bigger and bigger and my participation getting smaller and smaller. I’ll pass this on to the next generation while still retaining its core of bringing the Philippine creative scene together and celebrating the Filipino creative in all forms, shapes, and sizes.”
Legends, Freaks, and Icons
Personalities from different fields gathered to showcase their creativity in dressing up and interpreting the theme. “The main goal of the event is to bring the crazy people of all the creative industries—writers, producers, creators, actors, stylists, hair and make-up artists, photographers, models, craftsmen, etc. all together to celebrate the uniquely beautiful people that they are.”

Furthermore, Tim gave guests the freedom to interpret the dress code—Legends, Freaks, and Icons. Tim highlights that this is the only night where personalities come together to show off how crazy, creative, beautiful, freaky, iconic, and legendary they are.
