From Africa to South East Asia, luxury hotels are now selling residential property in these vacation hotspots.
Hotels, resorts, and exclusive membership clubs have become go-to locations for wealthy jet-setters that want to take a break from city life. But to live in a hotel? For many, it would be the ultimate luxury. Not only would you live in a prime location, but you have access to five-star service round the clock.
In a report by Savills, a leading UK-based property agency, the past decade has seen a 198 percent increase in branded residences. With hoteliers being the main drivers of the growth, they hear guests when they say they don’t want to leave. Fortunately, if you purchase a property from them, you don’t have to.
With that, we list five luxury hotels that have a history of quality service, are in prime vacation spots, and are now listing real estate located within their properties.
Tribal Hotel, Nicaragua
Since 2019, the first boutique hotel in Granada, Nicaragua is building and selling Moroccan-style villas within its property. The Tribal Hotel’s co-owner and New York restauranteur, Jean-Marc Houmard, said in an interview with Architectural Digest that when he saw a trend of real estate in the hotel space, he wanted to “give it a try.”
Currently, Houmard is planning on designing more homes in Tribal Hotel’s property, including an Ibiza-inspired farmhouse. Casa Toledana is one of the two villas still on the market today. The four-bedroom tropical home includes a swimming pool and two outdoor living spaces and is listed for $370,000.
Finca Cortesin, Spain
With prices starting at $4.8 million, the high-end European resort offers contemporary villas built mountainside. Designed by architect firm Torras y Sierras, the ten villas feature two floors, five to six bedrooms and bathrooms, and swimming pools.
Another attractive aspect of owning a villa in Finca Cortesin is the access to its five-star services. From pool and garden maintenance to 24/7 concierge services, they are just one call away from your Malaga resort home.
The Crane Resorts, Barbados
Since 1887, for 134 years now, The Crane has been hosting international guests on the Caribbean island. The luxury oceanfront accommodation will offer 63 beach villas once the project is completed in the coming years. With ownership starting at $595,000, the eco-friendly development will feature its own private bar, restaurant, and a secluded beachfront.
The Preserve Sporting Club and Residences, Rhode Island
The exclusive club is a nature playground where members can golf, fish, hike, ride horses, and shoot sporting clays. While many of its members spend weekends in the short-stay lodges, there are also homeownership options. When you invest in a property at The Preserve, you’ll have the option to fully customize your luxury nature lodge, cabin, or townhome.
However, the foundation of each home is already livable and spacious. For example, the Laurel Ridge has four bedrooms and features cathedral ceilings and a stone fireplace. Prices for real estate at The Preserve are from $1 million to over $9 million.
The Residences at W Retreat Koh Samui, Thailand
As one of W hotel’s luxury residential properties (The Residences also have branches in Bali, Florida, and California), you can expect an ideal location, modern architecture, and quality service. Since 2009, W Retreat Koh Samui has welcomed wealthy tourists who enjoy a tropical environment merged with a vibrant party scene.
Interested buyers can select from units with two, three, four, or five bedrooms. With that, prices start at $2 million to over $5 million. With W Hotels being known for their “whatever and whenever” type services, you can expect to have your requests fulfilled with a simple dial to the main lobby.
