In contrast to her bloody tracksuit worn on Squid Game, Jung Ho-yeon is announced as Louis Vuitton’s newest Global Ambassador in a crisp white ensemble.
Yesterday, Louis Vuitton announced that Squid Games star Jung Ho-yeon is their latest Global House Ambassador for Fashion, Watches, and Jewelry. In the French house’s announcement, they describe Jung as the embodiment of the independent LV woman and “embarks on this new journey with the Maison after first gracing the runway and being featured in [our] .”
Before venturing into acting, Jung first sprung into the spotlight as a professional model. The 27-year-old won the first runner-up prize in Korea’s Next Top Model in 2013 and walked in the runways of Louis Vuitton and other prestigious brands like Chanel and Prabal Gurung.
Fresh talent
However, the most followed K-actress on Instagram (Jung currently boasts a 15.9 million follower count) told W Korea that her social media presence as a model didn’t give her enough fulfillment.
“In a way, Instagram is a space where I edit and show what I want to show. But at some point, I thought, ‘Am I really this person?’ People like my shiny look, but to me, I’m a much different person than her,” she tells the fashion publication. “I relieved my loneliness with movies and books, and I had a strong desire to express what I felt through acting. So during the holiday season, I came to Korea and took acting classes.”
After taking courses on acting, she was booked to take on the role of Player No. 067 in Netflix’s Squid Game. The dystopian series released last month is the highest-streamed show in 90 countries, making it one of the most successful Netflix series to date.
More to achieve
Since Jung has achieved plenty in her modeling career, seeing more brands riding on the new wave of her success wouldn’t be a surprise.
After all, it’s already begun. Vogue renamed Jung’s appearance on their YouTube Channel for their “Beauty Secrets” series. Initially published four years ago, Jung was tapped to share her daytime beauty routine as a budding model.
The video became viral this month and garnered over 11 million views since Vogue changed the video’s title to “Squid Game’s Hoyeon Jung’s Steps for Perfect Skin and a Two-Tone Lip.”
A “new start” is how Jung describes her partnership with Louis Vuitton. Similarly, the luxury label’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere says he’s looking forward to starting “this new chapter” of Jung’s journey with LV, which started years back.
