The gala celebrates the opening of the exhibition ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ while raising funds for The Met’s Costume Institute.
It’s the first Monday in May and the 2023 Met Gala is kicking off with celebrities walking down the red carpet in their best looks.
This year’s theme is in honor of the late Karl Lagerfeld who helmed fashion houses such as Chanel, Fendi, and his own eponymous line.

This year’s A-list attendees will pay homage to Lagerfeld’s design signatures. Here are some of the guests that have just arrived.
Anna Wintour
The Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair was one of the first people to arrive at the venue.
Dressed in a patterned coat over a floor-length silver skirt, Anna Wintour walked up the Met’s steps while arm-in-arm with actor Bill Nighy.
Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman arrived at the Met Gala with her husband Keith Urban. The actress wore a Chanel gown which originally appeared in a Chanel No. 5 commercial directed by Baz Luhrmann.
Gisele Bündchen
The Brazilian supermodel opted for a white silk tulle Chanel dress. She previously wore the piece for a Harper’s Bazaar Korea photoshoot back in 2007.

Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa, another Met Gala co-chair, arrived in a 1992 Chanel gown originally worn by Claudia Schiffer. The pop star completed the look with a 100-carat diamond from Tiffany & Co.
She’s now the first star to ever wear the new Legendary diamond set on the brand’s Lucida Star necklace. The piece is reportedly worth over $10 million.
Michelle Yeoh
The Oscar-winning actress attended her second Met Gala in a black and white gown with voluminous long sleeves. The look pays homage to Lagerfeld’s signature style, feminizing classical menswear details.

Olivia Wilde
The Don’t Worry Darling director stunned the crowd in a sleek white gown from Chloé. The dress features side cutouts which bare her midriff while the bodice and high collar are embroidered with gold beads.
Pedro Pascal
Crowd favorite Pedro Pascal lit up the venue in a long, red hot Valentino overcoat. He paired the coat with a matching red shirt, black shorts, and lace-up military boots.
Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh made her Met Gala debut with a shaved head and a black and white Valentino gown. The dress features a long train and a white bodice with a plunging neckline. The actress topped off the look with a black feathered headpiece.

Jennie Kim
Another highly anticipated Met Gala debut was, of course, Blackpink’s Jennie. The K-pop star was in full Chanel, wearing a vintage white mini dress. As one of Lagerfeld’s last handpicked muses for the fashion house, this was the perfect theme for her to honor.
Doja Cat
True to her stage name, the musician chose to honor Lagerfeld’s white Burmese cat, Choupette. Doja Cat wore a hooded gown by Oscar de la Renta featuring cat ears and a mermaid silhouette. She also styled her nose and mouth to look like a cat, completing the whole look.
Living in the here and meow 😻 In an ode to #choupette, @dojacat looks fabulously feline as she prowls up the red carpet. pic.twitter.com/aepPgPTYOK
