“Friends” cast Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer pay tribute to Matthew Perry.
The demise of Matthew Perry dented thousands of people’s hearts and those who interacted and worked with him over the years. The Friends cast kept mum during the first few days of Perry’s passing and released a joint statement to People expressing their devastation.
The cast took to social media their tributes to the late actor on November 15 (Wednesday). They became a six-people ensemble after being cast for Friends in 1994.
Perry released his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing in November last year. He revealed that his television show beau Courteney Cox became responsible for the group staying together even in awardings and magazine shoots. Cox played Monica Geller in Friends.
“There are no stars here,” Cox said according to Perry’s memoir. “This is an ensemble show. We’re all supposed to be friends.”

A thousand moments with Matthew Perry
Cox and Perry played as spouses Monica and Chandler in Friends. Their relationship began on the series’ fourth season’s last episode where the pair spent an intimate night together.
The actress addressed missing Perry a few weeks after his death. She expressed gratitude for every moment she had with the late actor and shared her favorite scene of them on Instagram. It depicted the start of Monica and Chandler’s story as a couple.
“When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share,” Cox said.
Cox added that Perry whispered a funny line for her to say before the cameras started rolling. She said he often did such things on set. “He was funny and he was kind,” Cox finishes.
“Favorite times of my life”
LeBlanc took the role of Joey Tribbiani in the popular television series. Chandler and Joey shared an apartment before the former had to move in with Monica across the hall.
He shared a couple of pictures of him and Perry and behind the scenes photos of them with the cast.
The actor said goodbye “with a heavy heart” and added that his time with Perry were among “the favorite times of my life.” LeBlanc said that sharing the stage with him and calling him his friend has been an honor.
“I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never,” LeBlanc said.
“Family out of six strangers”
Schwimmer played Ross Geller in the hit sitcom alongside Perry’s Chandler Bing. He recounted that he’ll never forget Perry’s impeccable comic timing and delivery. The actor thanked the late actor for 10 incredible years of laughter and creativity.
He expressed that Perry had heart which he generously gave and shared with the cast, creating a family out of six strangers.
Schwimmer posted his favorite moment with Perry which involved a thanksgiving dinner episode. They both donned suits with rolled-up sleeves and heavily-gelled hairdos. The actor added that the photo makes him smile and grieve at the same time.
“I imagine you up there, somewhere, in the same white suit, hands in your pockets, looking around—’Could there BE any more clouds?’” Schwimmer said and added Chandler’s signature sarcastic line.
Kudrow’s gratitude for times with Perry
Phoebe Buffay stemmed from Kudrow’s flakey yet funny personality and had hilarious moments with Perry while shooting.
She professed a lot of gratitude for Perry on her Instagram saying she was grateful for his trust. The actress wrote the foreword in his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.
Kudrow revealed that she was grateful for Perry showing up to work completely brilliant despite not feeling well.
“Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew,” Kudrow expressed.
Perry’s death “cut deep”
Jennifer Aniston played the beautiful Rachel Green alongside Perry in Friends. She poured her heart out in an Instagram post that heartfeltly remembered the late actor.
Aniston exclaimed how his death has cut deep and saying goodbye has been “an insane wave of emotions” that she went through.
The actress expressed that they loved Perry deeply as he was a part of their DNA. “We were always the six of us,” she said. “This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be.”
The actress witnessed the late actor’s brevity as a comical character and that he made everyone laugh hard.
Aniston closed her post saying she loved him and that he always made her day.
Tributes to Perry’s life poured over the course of the announcement of his death prior to the main cast’s statements. Former co-stars Hank Azaria, Maggie Wheeler, Elliott Gould, and Aisha Tyler grieved the loss of the actor, among others.
