The local fragrance scene has plenty of stories to tell through scent, and these perfumers are finding their own ways to tell them.
Manila doesn’t smell like anywhere else, and a growing wave of independent perfumers wants you to notice. Perfumers are taking the category in different directions, from scents built around everyday wearability to more conceptual perfumes that treat the Philippines as a source of raw material and inspiration. Walk through a weekend market or scroll a small-batch fragrance page, and you’ll find local noses building scents from our country’s very soil, memory, and weather, bottling the result for people who used to assume a good fragrance can only come from Paris or Grasse. Here, we round up some Filipino fragrance brands worth knowing if you’re curious about what’s happening in local perfumery right now.

Anino
Anino’s name takes after the Filipino word for “shadow.” The brand makes its fragrances in the Philippines and pulls its oils from Europe. This gives the lineup a nice friction between local instinct and imported material. Seabed and Sigh is the pair to try first if you’re new to the concept. Seabed is mineral and briny, a scent that puts you right at the shore’s edge; meanwhile, Sigh softens things out with hibiscus. Worn together, they feel like finishing a sentence someone else started.

Guava Smells
Guava Smells doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is. It was founded by Ryan Danao and Noelle Lejano, who both decided that a nice perfume shouldn’t come with a price tag that makes you flinch. Every bottle gets hand-poured, and the brand has created a whole personality around the word “everyday,” refusing to treat fragrance as something you only save for occasions.

Issy Parfums
Issy Cosmetics built its name on filling gaps other beauty brands ignored. Issy Parfums, their fragrance line, carries that same enthusiasm into scent. Three eau de parfums make up the collection: Scent of Possibility opens bright, aldehydes and bergamot and neroli up top, before settling into softness with jasmine and gardenia underneath. Scent of Intensity and Scent of Familiarity round things out, the former living up to its name with dark fruits and rich base notes like leather and guaiac wood, while the latter offers a subtler floral-fruit profile. The brand has since pushed the same three scents into body wash and lotion, so the fragrance can start building in the shower.

Sunnies Face
Sunnies Face did something almost too obvious in hindsight with their first foray into the fragrance sphere. The brand already thinks in color, so why not build a fragrance line the same way? Each scent is named for a color, with its notes inspired by the associations that color conjures. Sunnies Green, for instance, takes on the crisp, vegetal scent of tomato leaf, while the gourmand Sunnies Brown is warm and creamy with notes of coconut and vanilla.

Tadhana Fragrance
Tadhana Fragrance is the one worth telling people about twice. Shale Albao and Evgeny Olin, married and both invested in perfumery, started the brand because Shale noticed how little space Philippine perfumery had carved out for itself internationally. She trained at ISIPCA in Grasse, about as close to a perfumery pedigree as it gets, then came home and crafted fragrances entirely around what the Philippines actually grows. In July 2025, Tadhana went on to earn a place among the international brands shown at Grasse Perfume Week.

Imperfect Scents
You can tell from its dainty packaging and quirky illustrations that Imperfect Scents—the brainchild of siblings Kelsey and Marouis—doesn’t take itself too seriously, but its fragrances are as playful as can be. There’s something charming about a brand that doesn’t feel the need to dress its scents up as anything more complicated than they are.

Dilettante Perfumery
Dilettante Perfumery is the newest name here, launching only last August 8. It was founded by perfumer Paulo Pascua, who picked his brand name from the Italian word dilettare, meaning to delight. A scent called Temple of Dawn is built for coffee lovers specifically, while Forever and Creature Feature round out the other early releases.

Otter Haus
Otter Haus centers its identity on the promise of simplicity, describing its work as no-fuss original fragrances meant to make the world of scent feel more approachable, whether someone’s just starting out or already deep into the hobby. Slow Mornings leans into the same unhurried mood, inspired by the hush of lying in bed, built on bergamot and orange up top before settling into rose, geranium, musk, and amber.
