For Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2027, Louise Trotter gives the house’s signature restraint a mischievous streak and plenty of reasons to look twice.
The Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2027 collection rewards the viewer who looks twice, since Creative Director Louise Trotter hides her best ideas in places a casual glance skips right over. Her third outing for the house carries forward the unforced cool she introduced a year ago, now with a wider palette and a sharper sense of play.

Winter Into Spring (Into Summer)
The season in question is that awkward stretch between seasons, when everyone peels off layers without knowing what waits underneath. It’s your Hades and Persephone story of descent and return, rather than a brisk unwrapping, in which the marrow you dig for turns out to be a cool-toned pink shirt sleeve peeking from beneath a woven leather coat. The eye can’t help but track that flash of color, and it does the same with a thin woven belt cinched around a navy peacoat.
Bottega has always been something of a show pony when it comes to craft, and the house trots out its talents again with obvious pleasure. The Intrecciato at the beating heart of the label gets reinterpreted in ways that tease the eye, most memorably in the leather newspaper notebooks that the atelier crafted using the house’s signature weaving technique.

Big Bags, Loose Threads
That sleight of hand is applied to weight, a subject on which the season seems collectively fixated. Totes doubled in size, made from leather or raffia, looking as though they could flatten a shoulder, while the tailoring drops its rigidity and leaves air between fabric and body. Tassels and fringe have taken a chokehold on many houses this season, with Dior and Givenchy both joining in, and Trotter’s version swings along with the crowd through crochet, embroidery, and fringing left imperfect on purpose.
The garden makes its appearance without the overkill of Jonathan Anderson’s recent Dior presentations, because Trotter tucks it into the looks rather than staging it on top of them. A dainty lavender boutonniere sits on a coat’s lapel, woven leather lilies dangle from bag handles, and a blast of red flora splashes across the front of an all-white, distressed crochet look.

Look Twice At Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2027
Color clashes arrive unorthodox but never unwelcome. A poppy red announces the summer half of the collection with enthusiasm, yellow and violet keep it company, and a plum purple turns up often enough to qualify as a motif. Two comparatively modest looks in muted maroon, one a loose linen piece and the other a slim double-breasted coat cinched at the waist, call back to the unforced Trotter-ness of it all and give the eye somewhere to rest between the louder moments.
The tricks Trotter plays on the eye depend on a viewer willing to look closely, and the reward for doing so is a collection that gets sharper the longer you study it.
