Upcoming: WHYNoT Presents SKIN, A Fashion Market And Art Exhibition In Makati

By

SKIN: A Sensory Perception runs from June 27 to July 5, 2026 at Karrivin Studios in Makati, featuring designers, contemporary artists, and a week of public programming.

WHYNoT at Karrivin Studios in Makati is set to open SKIN: A Sensory Perception on June 27, 2026 running through July 5, 2026. A fashion market and exhibition, SKIN endeavors to discover what happens when designers, visual artists, writers, and musicians all work in the same room.

SKIN takes fashion, installation, literature, photography, moving image, and sound and lets them occupy the same space as what the organizers describe as “intersecting languages of surface and sensation.” The skin, in other words, is both subject and medium, the first way the world touches you and the first place where you decide how to meet it.

Who’s In The Room? Featured Artists In The Exhibition

Eight designers will be showcasing their work, including Construction Layers, Rod Malanao, Leby Le Morìa, Ziv Rei Alexi, JOS Mundo, Serena San Jose of Kasakdalan, Seine Ventura of Seine Studio, and Angela Reyes of Choola. The designers will share the floor with visual artists Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan, as well as their daughter Amihan Aquilizan; Marina Cruz, Patricia Perez Eustaquio, Therese Regalado, and Juan Alcazaren, whose practices span sculpture, painting, and object-making. Writer Conchitina Cruz extends the inquiry into language.

The public programs running alongside the exhibition will have the texture of a genuine intellectual event rather than opening-night filler. Fashion film screenings and a slideshow drawing on photographers Regine David, Colin Dancel, and Neal Oshima, as well as editorial spreads from WHYNoT’s reading room (which includes Paul Martineau’s Icons of Style catalog for the Getty Museum), give the run a sense of curatorial seriousness.

Conversations Beyond The Market

On July 4 and 5, a series of conversations turn to the material and structural questions that underpin how clothes actually get made and what they carry with them. The topics range from garment histories and textile manipulation to production infrastructures and the work of storytelling through fabric, and will feature participating artists alongside Jodinand Aguillon of Glorious Dias and Steffi Cua of Idyllic Summers, among others. Independent curator and writer Marian Pastor Roces will deliver a lecture on July 5, which alone makes the weekend worth clearing.

The atmosphere gets looser on weekends, with DJ sets by Mario Serrano and Kiko Escora, and a kitchen takeover by the food concept Wizard on opening weekend, June 27 and 28.

SKIN opens to the public June 27 at WHYNoT, 4th Floor Karrivin Studios, Makati. Tickets and details are available through their Instagram at @whynot.mnl.
