These individuals inspire us and gives us hope for a better future.
To wrap up the past 12 months, Lifestyle Asia lists down 21 Filipinos that have made a positive impact in the world, and have shaped public discourse.
“We have selected 21 individuals who not only made us proud with their accomplishments, but also inspires us and gives us hope for a better future,” says Lifestyle Asia editor-in-chief Dong Ronquillo. These names appear in the December 2021-January 2022 issue of the media brand, which is available on newsstands and are downloadable as an e-mag.
Ronquillo describes each person on the list as being “a portrait of passion and vision of what we could be as a people.”
These include Nobel Peace Prize-winning journalist Maria Ressa, fashion designer Micahel Cinco, actress, artist, and fashionista Heart Evangelista, social media sensation Bretman Rock, Fil-American singer Bella Poarch, Volpi cup winner John Arcilla, and art superstar Ronald Ventura.
Junior grand slam winner Alex Eala, international pole vaulter EJ Obiena, and our first Olympic gold medalist and champion Hidilyn Diaz lead the names in on the list on behalf of Philippine sports.
Meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo, Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat, Atty. Chel Diokno, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno are some of the notable figures in government and public service. Ronquillo describes them as having “led with conviction, doing work that directly impacted our society.”
Sta. Elena Construction president and CEO and philanthropist Alice Eduardo, Justice Undersecretary and Hope for Lupus founder Em Aglipay-Villar, Community Pantry movement pioneer Patricia Non, International Container Terminal Services chairman and CEO Enrique Razon, and ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak are also on the list. They have “fought for what is right, unselfishly working hard to better the lives of others,” Ronquillo explains.
Rounding off the list are two Filipinos who have sadly passed away this year. Photographer Raymund Isaac and Ambassador Benny Tantoco, Ronquillo says, “have a made mark in the industries they helped shape.”
Lifestyle Asia’s December 2021-January 2022 issue has Mesa ni Misis founder Juana Manahan-Yupangco on the cover and also features Bryanboy, Len Medina, and Wilvy Gubelin. For information on where to get copies, email [email protected].
