The duo tapped production firm Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) for the idea, which will take Cruise to the International Space Station. If the plans come to fruition, the Hollywood veteran will be the first actor to film in space.
“I think Tom Cruise is taking us to space; he’s taking the world to space,” UFEG Chairman Donna Langley said in an interview with BBC News. “That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom….. Taking a rocket up to the Space Station and shooting.”
Langley added that Cruise’s character will enter space to “save the day.” However, most of the film will be shot on Earth. Other details, such as Crusie’s co-stars and production and release dates, have yet to be confirmed.
