Now that travel is slowly opening up again, many are looking for safe experiences outside of the country—particularly ones that center on wellness. Well, Mystique in Santorini—which was included in Vogue’s list of “Best Hotels in Greece” list—is offering one that has guests learning relaxation techniques by the Aegean Sea.

Opened in 2007, Mystique was carved out of the Caldera Cliffs in Oia and thusly has a breathtaking landscape. It partners this backdrop with OPO, a wellness and technology studio, to create an immersive mediation program for guests to experience.

Mental and emotional health

“We share an inherent commitment for human wellbeing and an immersion into beautiful natural surroundings,” says OPO founder Chris Connors. “Meditation is a direct route to mental and emotional health. It is one of the fastest growing health practices around the world, a tonic for these challenging times, and a simple way to shift our stress programming into a relaxed and restored vital state.”

Connors, who has 20 years of experience as a meditation teacher, will himself guide participatns through OPO’s “Today” and “Learn to Meditate” sessions. Once guests have booked their stay at Mystique, they receive a unique link to take them to the OPO app, where they can even listen to a pre-arrival meditation session.

During their stay, Mystique will offer guests the opportunity to take a tranquil stroll through the cobbled streets of Oia to catch the beautiful island sunrise. This trail pairs beautifully with OPO’s ‘Morning Rise’ eyes-open mediation. This is designed to boost our feel good hormone, serotonin, and instill a relaxed, yet focused state of mind. A post-stay reflection session has also been created to help you transition from your holiday to everyday home life.

Serene environment

The  four-session “Today” meditation program, on the other hand, balances the physical, mental and emotional state of the mind. These sessions aim to revive a wellness spirit, and are supported by neutrally enhancing soundscapes, breath work methods and eyes-open techniques.

“Learn To Meditate,” meanwhile, is designed for those who are familiar with the benefits of meditation, but have not yet experienced them. Regular users of meditation will also enjoy the sessions, too, as it will allow the travelers to go back to the foundations of their practice, cultivating new perspectives as they embrace Santorini’s carefree lifestyle.

Kalia and Antonis Eliopoulos, who founded Mystique parent-company Kanava Hotels and Resorts, they want their guests to have a serene environment that will fill them with a sense of peace and relaxation. “We constantly encourage them to explore our destinations mindfully, disconnect and embrace the Cycladic slow-paced way of life, completely relieved from stress,” says Kalia.
