The Spotted Pig Finds Its Second Home In Manila

By

Located in Proscenium Rockwell, The Spotted Pig has you covered—from your first cup of the day to a nightcap with friends, and all the bites in between.

Brewed from the laid-back charm of Siargao and a serendipitous encounter with an actual spotted pig, the all-day dining spot brings its playful spirit and thoughtful menu to the heart of Rockwell. What began as a cafe and the Alvarez’s family love letter to Siargao, has now evolved into a full-fledged dining spot in the Metro.

Spearheaded by Belle Alvarez—the Spotted Pig has been reimagined for the city without losing its easygoing charm. The Rockwell location carries over the island elements and native textures from its original cafe as well as the breezeblocks of its Legazpi sibling—scaling them up with high ceilings, a mezzanine cocktail bar, and an easy-going yet elevated energy.

The new space invites guests to start their day with bestsellers like a Mont Blanc cold brew, a cortado or their curated pour-over selection, linger over brunch staples like Spotted Pig’s avocado toast or eggs benedict, and wind down with steak rice and a spicy margarita, sangria, or draft beer in hand.

With a space built for every hour of the day and a menu that caters to every kind of craving (including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options), the Spotted Pig’s latest chapter invites regulars and first-timers alike to make it their newest go-to. Whether you’re in for a quick coffee, a slow brunch, or cocktails with friends, this is a place designed for staying a little longer.

The name originated in Siargao, where founder Belle Alvarez and her partners encountered a stray spotted pig while searching for their first location. This playful encounter became the brand’s namesake, symbolizing the serendipity and organic growth of the business.

She translated the “easygoing island charm” into a sophisticated urban setting by using natural textures, warm wood, and tropical greenery. This creates a “slow living” atmosphere that offers a peaceful escape from the frantic pace of Metro Manila.

The Rockwell branch is significantly more architectural, featuring a double-height ceiling and a dedicated mezzanine. While Legazpi is a cozy neighborhood nook, Proscenium is a grander flagship that introduces a “hidden” cocktail bar experience on the upper level.

The menu balances indulgent “island comfort” like Steak Rice and Salmon Benny with a robust selection of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes. This inclusivity ensures that health-conscious diners and those with restrictions have premium, flavorful options.

The “second home” transitions via a change in lighting and the opening of the mezzanine bar. The beverage program expands beyond specialty coffee to include draft beers, craft cocktails like spicy margaritas, and curated wines, making it a versatile space for sundowners and late-night gatherings.
