By

In Celebration of the119th Philippine Independence Day and the the inauguration of Jose C. Laurel V as the new ambassador of the Philippines in Japan, a fashion show was geld at the Imperial Hotel in Chiyoda, Japan. Marking the first fashion show hosted by the embassy since 1964, the venue was filled with 500 guests and 118 ambassadors waiting to catch the collection of the celebrated Filipino designer Rajo Laurel matched with homegrown brand Jewelmer on the runway.

Ambassador Laurel’s family was in full support on the evening of June 12. Apart from Rajo’s couture designs, the singing talents of Denise Laurel and Nicole Laurel-Asensio accompanied the evening. Theater actor Jojo Urquico was also present for a handful of showstoppers. The evenings highlight was when Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina took to the runway. She walked in her iconic Jewelmer headpiece, as worn on the Miss Universe stage earlier this year. The brand’s signature golden South Sea Pearl was a hit amongst audience members. Philippine Airlines also showed support to the country by being an official partner that night. It was an evening of celebrating Philippine natural wonders. It was a timely homage to home on a day when the country was most proud.
