Celebrities Post Sneak-Peeks Of Their Outfits For The Met Gala 2023

Many stars took to social media to post sneak-peeks of the stunning outfits they wore to this year’s gala—including Cara Delevingne, Nicole Kidman, and Doja Cat among others.

This year’s highly-anticipated Met Gala has finally arrived, and as expected, celebrities came in a variety of creative and glamorous outfits. Headed by the ever-stylish Anna Wintour, the event’s theme is a tribute to late fashion powerhouse Karl Lagerfeld with the title “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”

As such, many stars sported threads that honored the late designer in some way. For example, pieces from brands that Lagerfeld worked with, particularly Chanel, were spotted. Some celebrities even wore outfits inspired by the designer’s beloved feline companion, Choupette

Since the use of phones has been banned in the famous gala starting 2015—in an attempt to encourage celebrities to focus on the event itself—the public can expect little to no selfies from stars during the celebration.

That said, a good deal of them posted photos on social media prior to the event to give a sneak-peek of what they’ll be wearing. Below are seven celebrities who rocked their outfits both on and off the gala’s grand carpet:

Nicole Kidman

Legendary actress Nicole Kidman wore the very same pastel pink gown she sported in a Chanel No. 5 advertisement 14 years ago (directed by the acclaimed Baz Luhrmann). She teased her chosen outfit through an Instagram post containing a clip from the iconic video with the caption “Running to The Met.”

With 3,000 sequins and 250 pink feathers paired with an impressive 4-meter train, one can see why the actress chose to reprise the lavish gown.

Glenn Close

The Tony-award winning actress and star of 1987’s Fatal Attraction posted a selfie on Instagram with British fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu. Captioned “On our way to the MET GALA in honor of Karl Lagerfeld,” the picture teased the starched cotton collar of Close’s sequined Eau de Nil gown from ERDEM, which features crystal hand embroidery.

Prior to that, the actress also posted a video of her hair being “sculpted” by her stylist Curtis William, a touch that perfectly complemented her Lagerfeld tribute.

Amanda Seyfriend

Seyfried herself didn’t post her Met Gala look on social media, her stylist Elizabeth Stewart did through an Instagram video. The Mamma Mia star showed off a sparkling gold minidress from Oscar de la Renta, which was paired with Cartier jewelry, impeccably styled curls, and smokey eye-shadow.

Jessica Chastain

Elizabeth Stewart also posted a video of her other glamorous client, Jessica Chastain. In true Karl Lagerfeld fashion, the Oscar winner was dressed in black from head to toe. The star wore shades and long black gloves alongside a sophisticated Gucci gown, which complemented her platinum-blonde hair.

The star also posted a video of her outfit with the caption “Any guesses who’s my inspo for tonight?” With how well she pulled off the Lagerfeld look, the question is an easy one to answer.

The star simply captioned the post with “Met ‘23,” letting his sophisticated style speak for itself. Plat wore a white Wiederhoeft tux with black trims and topped it off with a luxe rhinestone belt.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat made waves online as her Instagram post featuring pictures of her gala outfit garnered a million likes within three hours. The popular musician is known for her eclectic and unique outfits, and this one is no different.

Dressed in a shining hooded gown from Oscar de la Renta, the star’s look paid homage to Lagerfeld’s Birman cat, Choupette. Besides the hood’s cat ears, the singer also sported feline prosthetics that took the “Cat” in Doja Cat to a whole new level.

Cara Delevingne

Inimitable model Cara Delevingne honored Karl Lagerfeld with silver-blue hair, a flowing white shirt-gown, black fingerless gloves, and accessories sporting the late designer’s signature motifs from Chrome Hearts

The model has been a long-time collaborator and friend of Lagerfeld, which made the tribute all the more meaningful. In her Instagram post featuring a preview of the gala outfit, the star wrote: “This one’s for you KL.”
