Natural wines can taste lively and unpredictable, andGo to Natural Wine Glossary has been gaining traction among a younger, more curious generation of drinkers, but the category can still feel unfamiliar to those just starting to explore it. As Kai Yulo, co-founder of (Super)Natural Wine, previously explained to Lifestyle Asia, “You don’t need to be a wine expert to enjoy it. It’s playful, approachable, and at times a little funky, but that’s exactly what makes it so exciting.” Since its beginnings as a natural wine distributor, (Super)Natural Wine has introduced drinkers to the category through pop-ups, events, and tastings. Recently, the team began a new chapter with a permanent space at Tamarind Place along Chino Roces, Makati, giving natural wine a dedicated home where people can enjoy it at their own pace.

For co-founders Kai Yulo and her uncle Rashid Delgado, the idea had been in the works for some time. “Opening a physical space was always something we hoped to do eventually,” Kai tells us. After looking at several locations around Makati over the past two years, Tamarind Place felt like the right fit thanks to its neighborhood character and growing community of creative businesses.

A Neighborhood Natural Wine Stop With Room To Explore
The new home of (Super)Natural Wine has a little bit of everything, functioning as both a neighborhood bottle shop and cozy wine lounge. The aim is to make natural wine accessible without stripping away the stories and craft that inform each bottle. “The idea is to create a place where people can discover, experience, and learn about natural wine in a relaxed setting,” Kai explains. Whether guests are completely new to the category or already know their preferred styles, the team is ready to guide them through the selection.
Guests are invited to enjoy the space in much the same way. Inspired by the casual wine bar cultureCultureshared traditions, beliefs, values, customs, arts, and social practices that define the identity and way of life of a community, society, or nation.Go to Culture Glossary abroad, the bar has introduced a BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) concept, allowing guests to pick up food from nearby establishments and bring it along; the team can then help them find a wine to pair with their meal. For those who prefer to order on-site, a menu of wine-friendly bites by Sunday Street Co. is available on weekdays from 12 PM to 5 PM.

The interiors bear this setup’s sense of comfort and character. Working with Studio Mara for interior design, MPDC as contractor, and Target Display as display specialist, the (Super)Natural team drew inspiration from natural wineNatural WineWine made with minimal intervention, from organically or biodynamically farmed grapes, fermented with native yeasts and with little or no added sulfites. Mid-century influences meld with contemporary details, with natural wood, brushed metal, stone, plush upholstery, rich earthy tones, and layered lighting lending an intimacy to the space. “We wanted to balance warmth and softness with a bit of edge, so the space feels inviting without being too conventional,” Kai explains.
Wine And Food, Without The Fuss
F&B Consultant Luis Locsin worked closely with Sunday Street Co. to develop simple, wine-friendly bites that complement the bottles rather than compete with them. “The most important part for me was that it shouldn’t be about the food–it should be about the wine,” Locsin shares.
To achieve this, the team steered away from dishes that were “too busy,” favoring familiar flavors and quality ingredients that work within the space’s operational limitations. Natural wines can taste lively and unpredictable, andGo to Natural Wine Glossary also offers interesting possibilities for food pairing. According to Luis, its generally higher acidity and distinctive secondary and tertiary notes can accommodate punchier flavors; more assertive seasoning; and dishes that might taste unbalanced on their own, but are capable of finding harmony on the palate when paired with the right glass.

One of the chef’s current favorites is the smoked fish dip, a creamy, herby, savory preparation served with pickles and fresh crostini. His recommended pairing is Gut Oggau’s Timotheus, a white blend with some skin contact. The wine’s acidity cuts through the dip’s creamy texture, its herbaceous notes echoing the herbs in the dish while its natural tannins help refresh the palate between bites.
For guests unsure where to begin, Assistant General Manager and Head of Operations Mike Beltran recommends starting with familiar styles. A pét-nat can be a good entry point for sparkling wine lovers, while a chillable, fruit-forward red with low tannins offers an easy-drinking alternative. The team’s approach is to help guests discover what they enjoy rather than overwhelm them with unfamiliar terminology.
The wine list, of course, encourages exploration. Instead of keeping a fixed selection of wines by the glass, the bar rotates its labels, with a maximum of two open bottles at a time. This gives guests the chance to try different producers and styles, which means there’s always something new to discover on subsequent visits. “We want to offer selections for everyone, whether you are new to natural wineNatural WineWine made with minimal intervention, from organically or biodynamically farmed grapes, fermented with native yeasts and with little or no added sulfites. A Permanent Space For A Growing Community

The space is designed with tastings and workshops in mind, including guided experiences featuring four different producers and regions, as well as more personalized sessions centered on a particular country, winemaker, or style. It’s also available for private celebrations, gatherings, and meetings.

“But I think the biggest difference is having a place people can return to,” Kai adds. “There’s something really nice about getting to know our customers, remembering what they like, and introducing them to something new each time they visit. We’re excited to build that kind of relationship and community around (Super)Natural.”
